Hold On, Hold On (Grigg-Miller)

Hymn composed by

Katie Grigg-Miller

Contextual information

This song was written as a response to the AUUMM Songwriters workshop prompt of the need (of a congregation) for comfort. So the lyrics are comforting, and the droning of the optional harmony line is like a safety net underneath the chorus melody.

Lyrics

Hope is your lifeline; hold on, hold on; hope is your lifeline; hold on.

There’s a silver lining on this cloud; there’s a dawn after ev’ry long night.

Birds start their song long before the sunrise; hold on.

Joy is our sunlight; hold on, hold on; joy is our sunlight; hold on.

There’s a silver lining on this cloud; there’s a dawn after ev’ry long night.

Birds start their song long before the sunrise; hold on.

Peace is our birthright; hold on, hold on; peace is our birthright; hold on.

There’s a silver lining on this cloud; there’s a dawn after ev’ry long night.

Birds start their song long before the sunrise; hold on.

Love is our blessing; hold on, hold on; love is our blessing; hold on.

There’s a silver lining on this cloud; there’s a dawn after ev’ry long night.

Birds start their song long before the sunrise; hold on.

Hold on; hold on; hold on.
