Keep Me

Hymn composed by

Molly Bajgot

Contextual information

“Keep Me” was written at the height of the pandemic in an effort to find solace and connection to the non-physical. It references a common Jewish teaching — “I am but dust and ashes” (Rabbi Simcha Bunem) — to recall our humility in the face of great challenge.

Lyrics

Voice 1:

Keep me in the arms of my beloved, Oh God.

Keep me in the arms of my beloved, Oh God.

Voice 2:

Planted where I stand, grounded by the land,

Carry me back to the sea from dust to dust again.

Perfect as I am, grounded by the land,

Carry me back to the sea from dust to dust again.

Voice 3:

No matter where I go, always keep me close.

No matter where I go, always keep me close.

No matter where I go, always keep me close.

No matter where I go, always keep me close.
