The Web of Life

Hymn composed by

Sara Ruth Davis

Contextual information

The composer writes: “I am eager to help create a new repertoire of simple, meaningful, and easy-to-sing and -perform congregational songs for worship that are based on our present. So many of the familiar hymns in Singing the Living Tradition are descended from our liberal Christian origins. While honoring our roots certainly is important, I’m inspired to compose new songs that express our UU shared values: Interdependence (“The Web of Life”), Pluralism, Justice, Transformation, Generosity, and Equity.”

Lyrics

Sharing our joy together.

Bearing our grief together.

The web of life holds us in this truth;

we are not alone.

Striving for change together.

Healing our pain together.

The web of life holds us in this truth;

we are not alone.

Journeying on together.

Learning to love together.

The web of life holds us in this truth;

we are not alone.
