Let Out My Wings

Hymn composed by

Ashley Mulcaire

Contextual information

“Let Out My Wings” is inspired by the children’s book After the Fall by Dan Santat, in which Humpty Dumpty is reimagined as a bird hatching and taking flight. The song is a prayer for transformation, and a call for gentleness with ourselves in hard times.

Lyrics

I’m not just broken, I’m breaking open;

The cracks that you see are gonna let out my wings.

You’re not just broken, you’re breaking open;

The cracks that you see are gonna let out your wings.

We’re not just broken, we’re breaking open;

The cracks that you see are gonna let out our wings.
