Hymn composed by
Aly HalpertContextual information
“Loosen” is a song/prayer/meditation to heal personal and societal grief. Written by Aly Halpert in 2017 after the loss of her brother, it has since traveled the world and accompanied people through all kinds of losses and transitions, from birth to end of life care. “Loosen” is for ordinary grief, extraordinary grief, the unbearable kind and the unseen kind, in service of exhales and letting go of what is ours and not ours, of compassion, lightness, and becoming who we are after and through it all.

Lyrics
Part 1: Loosen, loosen, baby.
You don’t have to carry
the weight of the world
in your muscles and bones.
Let go, let go, let go.
Part 2: Holy breath and holy name:
Will you ease, will you ease this pain?
